Ball Park Food.

September 27, 2009

Matt Metzger

For those of you coming here for spiritual content, this one might disapoint you a bit. So…..last night I went w/ my wife Rachel,  and friends Sam & Jen  to Fan Appreciation Night at Miller Park to watch the Brewers play the Phillies. It was a great night! Ryan Braun hit a walk off homerun in the bottom of the 9th to break a 5 to 5 tie. One thing that makes any game great though is ball park food. We went through brats, sodas, peanuts and a brewers helmet full of waffle cheese fries. Fantastic!!!! So here is my question……

You are going to a ball game and for some reason, you get to eat for free today. What are you going to get?  Don’t hold back.   The world wants to know.

Tonight

September 22, 2009

Matt Metzger

So, I’m prepping for my talk for CAM tonight at the Regent at 8PM. I’ll be speaking on Jesus and his claims he made about himself when he said, “I am the bread of life.” That’s a bold statement. People looked at those words differently then than we would today. If you want to look at the passage ahead of time, head to John 6. Read the whole chapter just for fun. Jesus’ words make alot more sense in the context of everything that had just taken place. All this to say….it should be fun unpacking this tonight…..

Maragos

September 19, 2009

Matt Metzger

I was just given an article this morning from the WI State Journal about Chris Maragos. Last semester, Chris came into CAM to tell his story and the impact that Jesus has had on his life. Check out the article for yourself. Here’s the link. http://host.madison.com/sports/columnists/tom_mulhern/article_6fdd212b-6db3-5dbf-b659-4ee569eaa64e.html

Pancake Breakfast Postponed

September 18, 2009

Becca Voeltner

We had a breakfast scheduled for this Saturday morning but decided to postpone it and thought we’d share why. It turns out, there are some building security restraints at the Regent on home football game days (because they’re so close to Camp Randall); once we found this out, we decided it would be best to work out more logistics before going ahead with such an event. We are blessed as a ministry to use this space, so we always want to be incredibly sensitive to any concerns. We have an awesome relationship with the Regent – we love them, they love us – so we just wanted to postpone this event until some details are more thorouhly worked out.

Have a great time at the game…we owe you some pancakes!

The I AM list

September 17, 2009

Matt Metzger

Well, I’ve received more than a few comments about my talk from this past Tuesday night where we looked at Exodus 3 where God for the first time in scripture mentions his name. “I AM.” The idea for this talk actually came from a book written by Louie Giglio titled “I am not but I know I AM.”

In my talk, at the end, I went through a list of questions that are fairly interesting to think about when we answer them with “I AM.” These were tweaked from a list that Louie used. I’d love to say that I am that creative to come up with that stuff on my own but, all props should go to Louie. Anyways, people have been asking me for the list of questions so I thought I’d throw them up here. So here you go…..

I AM Questions

Who’s in control?
Who’s in charge?
Who’s leading this thing?
Who is gonna to show me the plan for my life.
Who’s going make sure the world here’s about Jesus?
Who’s going to make sure that truth prevails over evil?
If I bail, who is gonna go after the people I care about?
Who is in my corner?
Who is going to help me meet the insurmountable challenges that I’m facing right now?
Who could possibly be smart enough to figure all of this out?
I desperately need something fresh?
My friends all keep moving away. Who’s still around that knows me well?
No one’s giving me good leadership.
If I sell out for Jesus, who’s going to pay the bills?
Who’s pouring into me.
I think my friends deserve more.
Who’s gonna last?
I’ve given all I can but, it’s not enough.
Nobodies listening?
I’m going under. Will somebody help me?
Seems like the whole world’s a mess. Who can make sense of it all?
I need a friend.
I wish someone were here that would just love me for me.
