Cleaning Fun!!
November 24, 2009
It’s Tuesday, Nov 24 at 9:35 AM. I just got out of the pool from a morning workout and am sitting down to my computer to take a look at what is on the agenda for the day. Normally on Tuesdays, I’m prepping for a talk for Tuesday night and going through details of our evening meeting with people who help to run it. But today is different, because it’s a different kind of Tuesday, with a different kind of Tuesday night planned which I’m actually quite excited about. You see, tonight, rather than having our normal plan of Tuesday night CAM at 8PM, we are going to have a Regent cleaning night at 6. So, why would I get excited about this kind of an evening? Good question!! Because in my opinion, great conversations and great memories happen around nights like this. Spontaneous fun happens. You get to know people better and find out something about someone that you never knew. A night like this creates community in a way that a normal Tuesday night might not. So, in light of this…..come tonight at 6PM to clean the CAM spaces at the Regent. You might call this a shameless plug to try to get peeps to come help vacuum, straighten chairs and take out trash, but I’ve seen it happen too many times where nights like this build friendships. Needless to say, “the Metzger clan” will be at the Regent tonight at 6! Hope to see you there….

First and Greatest. . .
November 10, 2009
. . Talking to people about God is a great thing. But talking to God about people is even better. . EM Bounds.
It was like being hit in the face with a 2×4. How many times do we need to hear about the significance/effectiveness/power/peacefulness/help of prayer before we do it regularly?? Once I heard that quote in church, I went home and researched tons of other quotes about prayer. They were astounding! All of these leaders who professed that they could never even imagine beginning their day without hours of prayer! How often do we as busy Americans, devoted students, loving parents etc. say “My day is horribly busy. What can I cut out of it?” Working out, sleeping, and time with God will inevitably get the axe first. But if God’s first and GREATEST commandment to us is that we love Him with all of our hearts, all of our soul and all our mind, why does this fall to the way side? We are all constantly making GREAT strides to follow God’s other commands. I will drink less. I will watch my mouth. I will try harder to think only pure thoughts. Those things are great and honor God with our lives. . . But are we ignoring his FIRST and GREATEST commandment?
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. Matthew 22:36-38
Be still and know that He is God today. . . (Psalm 46:10)

2 great events this week
November 8, 2009
Hey everyone. In addition to our normal Tuesday night meeting this week, we have 2 great opportunities for you this coming weekend.
Friday night is the CAM dance. How can you miss this one? One thing we believe in as a church is the importance of having fun together. The CAM dance is one way we see that taking place. No agenda this evening other than to come and dance your socks off with your friends. Don’t miss it!
Then, Saturday morning is the opportunity to go to journey classes at Blackhawk. We strongly believe in the importance of helping people on their spiritual journey by teaching them more biblical prinicples about what it means to be a Christ follower in today’s day and age. So Saturday morning, we are having an opprotunity for people at our church to learn how to better share their faith in a seminar called Reimagining Evangelism. If you have questions on how to share your faith without coming across like a total jerk, then I suggest you carve out this time and come learn with us.
Hope to see you at both events this weekend!!!
