Matt Metzger, Pastor of College Age Ministries

Matt grew up in a Christian home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where he enjoyed surfing and beach volleyball. Rachel grew up in Madison and attended Blackhawk from a very young age. They are both graduates of Wheaton College, where they met playing volleyball. They were married at Blackhawk in 1994, and were involved in youth ministry in Ft. Lauderdale for the next three years. From 1997 to 2000 they served with Peak 3, a high adventure ministry to youth in Colorado. They moved to Madison and Matt began his ministry at Blackhawk in August/September 2000. Hannah was born in October 1999 and Leah on January 1, 2002.

Becca Voeltner, College Age Ministry Assistant

Becca grew up in Nashotah, WI and moved to Madison to attend Edgewood College in 2002. She graduated in 2006 with a degree in English Education and Psychology. After teaching for a brief period, she felt increasingly called to vocational ministry and has now been enjoying working with the College-Age Ministry for over a year. During school she started attending Blackhawk Church where she served in the High School Ministry, at which she met her husband, Andy. They got married this past September and are now living in Middleton. She loves spending quality time with family and friends, watching and playing sports, reading, writing, planning and taking trips, and so much more…you’ll have to get to know her!

Tyler Campbell, CAM Summer Intern

Tyler is a UW chemistry student with an interest in possibly going to seminary school one day. This summer his focus is to learn what it's like to work in ministry, while also sparing some time to play ultimate Frisbee and teach some guitar lessons. He enjoys playing guitar for worship, but also loves jam sessions and blues music. After the summer Tyler plans to finish the last three semesters of his chemistry major before deciding what's next in life.

Mike Hughes, CAM Summer Intern

Mike will graduate from UW in December with majors in Rhetorical Communication and Religious Studies. After graduating, he hopes to spend time in the Middle East as a missionary and attend seminary to work towards becoming a pastor. He has attended Blackhawk for three years and, along with a desire for experience in church ministry, his love for the church and the city of Madison motivated him to intern this summer. He likes dinosaurs.

Katherine Dykstra, CAM Summer Intern

Hi! I'm Katherine Dykstra. I just graduated from UW Madison this May, and I am on the CAM team for the summer of 2009. I have been attending Blackhawk for four years, and am also on staff with Young Life in greater Dane county. I joined the CAM team to learn more about how the church is run and to see if working in the church is something that God has planned for me in the future. I will be continuing my work in ministry this fall working as the Capernaum Coordinator for Young Life.

I love playing my bassoon and music is a huge part of my life. I have played for almost 13 years and I look to continue playing in an orchestra out of school. I also LOVE being outdoors. Fishing, camping and being outside in the wonderfulness that God created are some of my favorite activities.  I am originally from Wilmette, IL; just north of Chicago, and I went to New Trier High School. My dad is Larry, my mom is Jan, I have an older brother named Peter, who also went to UW Madison, and a yellow lab named Cooper. God is good! I'm very excited for this summer to see what He has in store for us!
